Woooo! Friday! Let's see what our collective creative brains came up with this week in Flannel Land!
Three Jellyfish (Wendy from Flannel Board Fun)
You need to check out these jellyfish and rhyme! This is the perfect addition to your summertime ocean themes.
Paintbrushes (Nikki from heytherelibrary)
This is an Inspired By post for rainbow/spring/color/art storytimes. This game will get those little brains working on memory recall, as well as colors.
Shapes Poem (Anne from so tomorrow)
Anne is mixing National Poetry Month with STEM and storytime! I love the idea of using containers of different shapes to give the poem a sensory aspect, too.
Dirty Diaper (Mr. Keith from Felt-tastic Flannelboard)
Almost everyone has heard the agonizing cries of a baby forced to have their diaper changed. Mr. Keith's distracting song will work with changing clothes and baths, too.
Mouse Mess (Me!)
My coworkers designed these environmental print flannel boards to celebrate One Book 4 Colorado and the book choice, Mouse Mess.
Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes (Tara from Storytime with Miss Tara and Friends)
Everyone loves Pete the Cat! Especially when he has delicious cupcakes!
It's an Orange Aardvark (Tara from Storytime with Miss Tara and Friends)
I'm in awe of this brilliant flannel retelling of this book by Michael Hall.

There's the old saying that "What happens in storytime stays in storytime." Not true anymore. Stay tuned as the storytime world and its secrets are revealed by an inside source.

Flannel Friday - Mouse Mess
One Book 4 Colorado is an annual initiative to get free books into the hands of four-year-olds around the state. State residents vote between three titles (each title must be available from Scholastic in paperback and in both English and Spanish).
This year our title is Mouse Mess by Linnea Asplind Riley and our branches went all out decorating for it.
My department, Child and Family Library Services, made felt boards for each location. The boards highlight the environmental print in the book.
Each branch also has a scavenger hunt happening. Children are given a sheet with the pictures they need to find throughout the children's section.
I'm hosting the round up this week! Check back later for the rest of the Flannel Friday community's submissions.
