If You’re a Pet and You Know It
If you’re a doggie and you know it,
Say, “Woof, woof”.
If you’re a doggie and you know it,
Say, “Woof, woof”.
If you’re a doggie and you know it,
And you really want to show it,
If you’re a doggie and you know it,
Say, “Woof, woof”.
Repeat
with kitty/meow, fishy/blub, hamster/run in place, bird/tweet.
--Miss Mollie
How Much is that Doggie in the Window?
How much is that doggie in the window?
The one with the waggly tail?
How much is that doggie in the window?
I do hope that doggie’s for sale.

Activities
Five
little doggies in the doggie pet store.
Looking
so lonely, they want a child to adore.
When
along comes a child with a dollar to pay
She
buys a doggie and takes him away.

There was a farmer who had a dog,
And Bingo was his name-o.
B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O
And Bingo was his name-o.

Kirker. Chicago: American Library Association, 2009.
I've been working on rhymes with the preschoolers. I would say the line in the poem, then they'd have to figure out which pet I was talking about. I'd compare each word with the name of the pet and ask if they rhymed.
Craft
Kitty Cats: Foam die cut cats, piece of yarn, foam sheets, and glue. The toddlers glued their cats to the sheet and added the piece of yarn. One little girl led hers around with the yarn like a leash!
Preschoolers
I gave each preschooler a letter K worksheet: http://www.first-school.ws/t/alpha1/k.htm
