Songs / Rhymes: “Good Morning”, “Hello, How Are You?”, “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, “Open, Shut Them”, “I Went to the Farm One Day” with cow puppet, “Head and Shoulders”, “The Hokey Pokey”, “I Wiggle My Fingers”, and “The More We Get Together”. 

Craft: Cows in the Pasture. Materials: cow pictures, green paper, Easter grass, crayons, glue, and tape. The toddlers glued their cows to their papers, colored them in, and then taped on the cows’ food: grass. The idea came from Preschool Storytime Crafts. The clipart came from Open Clip Art.

Songs / Rhymes: “Welcome to the Library”, “Hello, How Are You?”, “Hi There, So Glad You Came”, “Head and Shoulders”, “Open, Shut Them”, “The Hokey Pokey”, “I Wiggle My Fingers”, and “The More We Get Together”.

Special Activity: The preschoolers said what they knew about cows and I wrote the words down on the board. They knew what letter cow started with, what cows give us to drink, and that cows are big (not small). I taught them that cows’ feet are called hooves, a baby cow is called a calf, and that cows weigh 1500 lbs!

Craft: C is for Cow. Materials: C coloring paper, cow head and tail on paper, Easter grass, crayons, glue, scissors, and tape. The preschoolers cut out their cow heads and tails. They glued them on to their Cs and added the Easter grass for the cows to eat. The idea came from Always Something to Learn. The template was from DLTK Kids.

Flannel Friday - Pea Soup

Hello, Flannel Friday! I'm back!

I found this rhyme on Katie's (Sharing Soda's) wiki page. The pot template is from a Crayola coloring sheet. The logs and fire are from an earlier flannel I did called Campfire Pokey.

Pea Soup

One little pea,

Jumped into the pot,

And waited for the soup to get hot.

(Tuck thumb into fist)

Two little peas jumped into the pot,

And waited for the soup to get hot.

(Tuck pointer finger into fist)

Three little peas jumped into the pot,

And waited for the soup to get hot.

(Tuck middle finger into fist)

Four little peas jumped into the pot,

And waited for the soup to get hot.

(Tuck little finger into fist)

Finally the soup got so very hot,

All the little peas jumped out of the pot!

(Open hand and wiggle all your fingers)

Craft: Twinkle Twinkle Stars. Materials: foam stars, popsicle sticks, glitter, crayons, glue, and tape. The toddlers glued their sticks to their stars and colored them in. They put more glue on the star and I sprinkled some glitter on top. Everyone sang “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” with their stars.

Special Activity: The preschoolers helped me spell out the word star on the magnetic board. They then helped me think of words that rhymed with star and told me what letter to add to the end of the word to make it more than one.

Craft: Build Your Own Solar System (see craft picture for Toddlers). Materials: black construction paper, pompoms, construction paper crayons, glitter, crayons, glue, scissors, and tape. The preschoolers drew on their paper using the construction paper crayons and pasted on their pompoms. When they were finished, they added more glue and I sprinkled some glitter on their pictures.
