Storytime - A Bob Shea Day

New Socks and Oh, Daddy! by Bob Shea

Songs / Rhymes: “Good Morning”, “Hello, How Are You?”, “Open, Shut Them”, “If You Have a Red Sock” game, “Five Little Fishies” on the felt board, “I Wiggle My Fingers”, and “The More We Get Together”.

Special Activity: I handed each toddler a cut out of a pair of socks, each a different color. Then I sang “If You Have a Red Sock”, substituting different colors for red. If the toddlers had the color I mentioned, they brought it to the front of the room and placed it in the basket.

Craft: Build a Hippo. Materials: hippo printout on purple paper, crayons, glue, and tape. The toddlers glued and taped their parts to make their own hippos. The template came from Crafts for Children.

Songs / Rhymes: “Welcome to the Library”, “Hello, How Are You?”, “Open, Shut Them”, “If You Have a Red Sock”, “Five Little Fishies” on the felt board, and “The More We Get Together”.

Special Activity: The preschoolers also played "If You have a Red Sock".

Craft: Dinosaur vs. ________. Materials: Dinosaur vs. ______ printable, glue, tape, crayons, and scissors. The preschoolers imagined what they’d like to see Dinosaur go up against. Ideas included Dinosaur vs. a Ballerina, Dinosaur vs. Mommy, and Dinosaur vs. Spring. The template came from The Voices Inside My Headphones. Thanks, Sethers!
